Hello! My name is Kathryn Conyers (she/her), and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the states of Oregon and Washington. I see individuals (ages 18+) for both in-person and virtual sessions.
I primarily support clients dealing with anxiety, childhood and complex trauma, people-pleasing, perfectionism, work stress, and life balance.
Are you a good clinical fit?
I typically work well with clients who are curious about themselves and are open to exploring their experiences (present and past) more deeply. Clients often seek me out when they have engaged in talk-therapy but are still feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking and feeling. This may look like:
Feeling anxious or dysregulated
Having difficulty managing stress
People-pleasing, codependency, or difficulty setting boundaries
Perfectionism & never quite feeling good enough
Navigating relationships with emotionally immature parents
Dealing with other impacts of relational or childhood trauma
My Approach
I offer trauma-informed, holistic therapy that takes into account the mind, body, and context. I am passionate about supporting people to grow in self-regulation, self-understanding, and self-compassion, and this reflects in my approach to therapy. I integrate various approaches to support you to gain insight into your experience, identify and process emotions, engage in helpful and compassionate thinking, build safety in the emotional body, and develop strategies for cultivating the life you desire. I facilitate trauma processing, which is tailored to each client based on their readiness and their goals. We may also explore general wellness, as the mind-body connection plays a significant role in our mental and emotional health.
I draw on the following therapy approaches, which I have specific training in: Person-centered; Strengths-based; Emotion-focused therapy; Somatic therapy; Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction; Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC); Internal Family Systems (a.k.a. IFS, parts work, inner-child work); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT, values exploration); Psychodynamic; Attachment; EMDR (a trauma-processing modality); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Solution-focused; Creative approaches (expressive arts, guided imagery).
I look forward to working with you!

Therapy with me generally begins with weekly or every-other week sessions. Typically, we’ll check in about how you are doing, and determine what you want to focus on that session. I invite clients to slow down to look more closely at their thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify action steps that align with your goals and values. When fitting, I offer guided meditation to practice mindfulness and self-compassion, as well as guided activities to explore and process trauma.

EMDR is a late-stage trauma processing therapy which involves going into trauma memories, helping the brain and body to know that it is over, restoring a sense of safety. To learn more, see our EMDR page and EMDR Handout.
